MTL Electric respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to respond to you, quote and perform electrical work, and run this website — and we never sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
This website, mtlelectricny.com (the “Site”), is operated by MTL Electric, an owner-operated licensed electrical contractor based in Smithtown, NY, serving Suffolk and Nassau County. For purposes of this policy, “MTL Electric,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to that business. You can reach us at MTLelectrician@gmail.com or 631-432-0596.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request a quote, enroll in a Home Protection Plan, call, text or email us, we collect what you provide: name, phone number, email address, service address, the service you’re interested in, and any details, photos or messages you send about your project.
Customer & job records. If we perform work for you, we keep records of the quote, scope, permits filed, inspection results, invoices and payment status, and notes about your electrical system needed to service it in the future.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, approximate location (city level) and time on page. This is collected through cookies and analytics tools described in Section 4.
Information from third parties. If you contact us through Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram or Yelp, or leave a review, we receive the information those platforms share with us according to their own privacy policies.
3. How we use your information
- Respond to quote requests, questions and emergency calls
- Schedule site visits, perform electrical work, file permits and coordinate inspections
- Administer Home Protection Plans, including annual visit reminders and member pricing
- Send invoices, receipts and service-related notices
- Follow up after a job and invite you to leave a review
- Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it
- Detect spam and abuse, and comply with legal, licensing and insurance obligations
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
4. Cookies & analytics
The Site uses Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand which pages and services visitors are interested in. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as IP address (anonymized where supported), device and browser data, and pages visited. Learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Our contact and enrollment forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which analyzes browser and interaction data to block spam. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
The Site also embeds a Google Map of our business location on the contact page, and loads Google Fonts for its typography. Loading either may set Google cookies and sends your IP address to Google. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will not prevent you from calling or emailing us.
5. Sharing & service providers
We share personal information only with providers who help us run the business, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Form processing & automation — form submissions are transmitted through Google Cloud and Make.com to reach us and create a record of your request
- Analytics, spam protection & fonts — Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA, Google Maps and Google Fonts (Section 4)
- Website hosting & email — providers that host the Site and deliver our email
- Permits & inspections — your name and service address are shared with your town building department and the electrical inspection agency as required to permit and inspect the work
- Payment processing — if you pay electronically, your payment details go directly to the processor; we don’t store full card numbers
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the business. We never use subcontractors for electrical work, so your information is not shared with outside crews.
6. Calls, texts & email
By providing a phone number, you agree that MTL Electric may call or text you about your inquiry, quote, scheduled work or Protection Plan. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of SMS, or tell us by phone or email. We do not send marketing text messages, and we do not share your number with third parties for their marketing. Calls may be recorded for quality where permitted by law; you will be told at the start of the call if so.
7. How long we keep information
Quote requests that don’t become jobs are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up if you come back. Customer and job records — quotes, permits, inspection results and invoices — are kept for at least 7 years to meet licensing, tax, warranty and insurance requirements, and to service your electrical system on future visits. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings (currently 14 months).
8. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are encrypted in transit and stored with providers that use industry-standard access controls. Access to customer records is limited to the owner. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — if you believe your information has been compromised, contact us right away.
9. Your rights & choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that’s inaccurate or out of date
- Delete your information, subject to records we’re legally required to keep
- Opt out of follow-up calls, texts or emails
To exercise any of these, email MTLelectrician@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or call 631-432-0596. We’ll verify your identity and respond within 30 days. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their privacy rights.
New York residents: we comply with the New York SHIELD Act and will notify affected individuals of any data breach as required by law. Do Not Track: the Site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because there is no common standard for them.
10. Children
The Site and our services are intended for adults and homeowners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Third-party links
The Site links to third-party sites such as Google, Facebook, Instagram and Yelp, and to equipment manufacturers. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; review their policies before sharing information with them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site, our tools or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page; continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
